Google Algorithm SEO Ranking Shift Update

If your websites’ rankings dropped or increased over last weekend, you might be curious as to what is happening. Is it another Google algorithm update? Last week, Google confirmed it on Twitter and now we know why.

Google’s public search liaison Danny Sullivan explained that it’s a core algorithm update which they do routinely several times per year but clarified that it was not Maccabee related or anything specific to any update. And there’s no official name for it.

Webnatics’ Take

Google said that “as with any update, some sites may note drops or gains. There’s nothing wrong with pages that may now perform less well.” They likewise reminded us that “there’s no ‘fix’ for pages that may perform less well other than to remain focused on building great content.”

Writing great content is a choice. And when we say great content, we don’t just mean writing articles with hundreds or thousands of words. Great content is original, well-structured, relevant and free of grammatical errors.

As a digital and search agency, we believe that great content boosts SEO rankings, which can have a positive effect on your business. This is especially so considering that nowadays, Google is always finding ways to determine which sites have remarkable content.
